Last week, my blog included a list of reading inspiration for 8–12-year-olds.

This week, I have a Summer reading list from Rosie.  She is our daughter’s oldest friend and a fan of Fantasy Romance novels.  I know next to nothing about this genre, so I’m really pleased that Rosie agreed to recommend some books, and sent me a lovely photo from her holiday in Devon.

Rosie said, “I love fantasy because I can live a thousand different lives just by picking up a book and getting sucked in.”

The following list is suitable for young adults.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas.  The first in a fantasy series inspired by Beauty and the Beast.

Vengeance of the Pirate Queen by Tricia Levenseller.  Described by Waterstones as, A fun and fantastical romp full of romance, mischief, and, of course, vengeance!”

A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen.  A fantasy romance inspired by Norse Legend.

Alice by Christina Henry.  A dark revisit of Alice in Wonderland.

LightLark by Alex Aster.  Romance, secrets, twists and a BookTok phenomenon.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black.  (Rosie loves this book!)  The first instalment of Black’s magical romance series.

The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen. Romance, action, betrayal, revenge!

The Prisoner’s Throne by Holly Black.  The second part of the Stolen Heir duology.

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber.  A world of fairytale, intrigue, romance and forbidden magic.

An unusual list of brilliant books, and one that I hope gives you some inspiration.

Please get in touch with your recommendations for Summer reading and I will include them in a future blog.
